Prior to PGI's Chicobit Company, J&J Corporation studied and applied for a patent in 1996, namely "Processing Fabric Supporting Devices with a Divergent Laser Drilling Process". There is reason to believe that it is this technology that makes the shape of the Miratec products almost replicate the texture organization of most three-dimensional textiles. This patent tells people to move the laser beam at a certain fixed point of the forming drum according to a preset scan image, and the laser beam can sculpt the pattern on the forming drum, with multiple peaks, valleys, holes, and the like.

PGI and its customer Johnson Controls Co., Ltd. have established a partnership to make Miratec spunlace non-woven fabrics that are used primarily for furniture and home furnishings to expand into automotive interior trim panels.
